Attorney General Faris Al-Rawi delivered a tongue lashing to the Opposition, for what he described as their cavalier attitude towards passing the Income Tax Bill. Speaking during debate on the bill, AG Al-Rawi said failure to pass the bill will lead to Trinidad and Tobago being blacklisted on the global scene. For example, he said foreign transactions that would normally take a day, may take months to complete. If this is allowed to happen, he said the blame will lie squarely on the shoulders of the Opposition. But the Opposition maintained that certain clauses of the bill, infringe on the privacy of citizens. They said they are well aware of the negative consequences if the bill is not passed, however, they will not be bullied. The debate continues in the Lower House.
