Story: If time existed in this white limbo, she'd been in it for the highest measure. If not, it had been a length somewhere between the blink of an eye and forever. It was lonely, though she remembered nothing else. She sat, she stood, she walked, and nothing moved. Nothing moved apart from her feet, and nothing sounded save for her breathing. Until one day - or one moment - when she saw more than white. More than white meant more than empty. So she ran. As fast as her feet would take her, she ran to that spot, until she came upon flowers. Flowers and a church. They were leathery against her fingers, unfeeling for so long, and so alive. Eventually she left that church and walked, as far as she could. None could see her, hear, or feel her presence. So she wondered if this was truly any better than the limbo. Then a day came, once again, when the norm was shattered - portals opened all across the city and from them emptied legions of monsters, intent on their prey - the girl. She ran, again. She ran as far as she could, but that wasn't far enough; the only option she was left with was to stare them down until the bitter end. He came from nowhere, took them down like nothing and she flinched back - he radiated danger. But he held out his hand. Still she hesitated. "Partner with me." He was impatient, almost angry. So she touched his hand. "Thank you," she found the voice to say. "....
