DAYTON -- The summer heat doesn't just take a toll on people, it can bring cars to a grinding halt.With the Fourth of July holiday on the horizon, and gas prices falling, AAA predicts more than 2 million people to hit the road.  Experts say people should be careful as driving in extreme heat poses a number of problems."We see a lot of battery failures, the under-hood temperatures can be in the hundreds of degrees" said Ray Keyton, Vice President AAA.The high temperatures under the hood can do major damage to the inner workings of any vehicle.  Luke Warner works with car batteries, and says during the warm summer months, there are some warning signs drivers can look out for to know if their car is falling victim to the heat."If you notice your car is starting a little sluggishly throughout the summer especially during days like we have coming up that are going to be super hot," said Luke Warner, Batteries Plus.One of the most visual impacts extreme heat has on a vehicle is possible corrosion build up.  Battery corrosion makes it difficult for the vehicle to start, and in near 100 degree heat weather."The last thing you want to do is get stuck some place in the middle of the heat with a battery that won't start," said Warner.
