Artificial reefs to protect Pulau Kendi’s rich marine life

These artificial reefs are expected to spur population of pelagic fish species and also to restrict trawling nets and hinder fishing trawlers from intruding into shallow waters near the island. Penang Fisheries Department spent close to RM300,000 to acquire the 19 soft bed artificial reefs under the 11th Malaysia Plan.
