Through his own carelessness, Transon Lohk’s scheme to have Trent save the universe over and over again without respite has been rumbled. This only confirms what Trent has known for a while now, that the only way out is to get far, far away from everyone or to get ground down and spat out by the vicious cycle of constant universe saving, only to be replaced by someone else who’ll be forced to do what he was. A hundred years of distance should be sufficient, in a galaxy with a little-known and likely exceptionally dull planet called Earth as one of the few points of interest. There Trent hopes to start his life anew in a place where nobody knows his name and he blend into obscurity.

Unfortunately for Trent there’s one more chapter in Tyrian 2000 and so, it’s off once again to save the universe because let’s face it, that’s all Trent ever ends up doing. You may not believe that the plot for the final episode can possibly get any sillier then the other four but let me assure you that it can and will. Episode five is rather short in comparison to the others and has the most absurd story of them all and yet it makes only minimal effort to justify itself beyond ‘Hey, here’s an excuse to blow more stuff up.’ Perhaps the people who made the final chapter knew that at this point most players would’ve come to expect a flimsy plot or maybe the plot was a last minute thing. All I know is that I don’t need an excuse to play more Tyrian 2000 so I’ll go through the baffling plot of the final chapter to see the game to the end, to an ending that I won’t spoil here.

Trust me, not knowing what’s coming at the end is worth it, if only for that initial reaction when you first see the final level.
