Doomguy has finally made it to the heart of his home city and not surprisingly, it’s full of enemies that he needs to defeat. This shouldn’t be a shock to anyone as we already know that we’re the last living human left alive on the planet, though surely it’s hard to know that for sure; who is to say that a few tiny pockets of people haven’t managed to hold out up until now, under siege but still surviving despite the odds? The novel set in this time does speak of people battling the demons, though it’s safe to say that those efforts aren’t going so well.

That aside, the portal we need to shut off isn’t here. It’s located in another area of the city and to get there, we have to move through the downtown area, a place packed with high rise buildings and a lot of demons within them that are intent on stopping us. Some of the buildings are locked and the key cards we need are scattered everywhere, but that’s nothing new for Doomguy. The difficulty comes in the initial skirmishes where we’re attacked from many angles all at once and the key to surviving that is to find a defensible corner and work through the area from there. Though the par time does taunt you at the end, slow and steady really does win the race here.
