As evening falls across Eastern India, Howrah WAP4 leads the 12273 Howrah New Delhi Duronto Express across the dry and shallow Phalgu River and into Gaya. The approach to Gaya and the station itself is extremely dirty but a pretty hill by the river and a sharp curve makes for panoramic viewing. Gaya is the second technical halt for this particular Duronto Express after Dhanbad. The stoppage is due to gastronomical reasons: dinner is loaded at this station. As this is not required on the return journey, the 12274 New Delhi Howrah Duronto has no stop at Gaya.
