I show how to plant grass from seed to patch a bare spot in your lawn. One of my favorite products for patching a bare spot is the Jonathan Green Lawn Repair kit. The jug I show covers 100 sq. ft. and has a blend of their best grass seed, organic fertilizer, calcium and mulch. I really like the organic fertilizer that Jonathan Green uses. Instead of just providing nitrogen for the grass, it is designed to fertilize and improve the quality of the soil. It has bone meal, feather meal, blood meal and humates to soften soil and feed the microorganisms that keep soil healthy for plant life. The mulch helps prevent the seed and seedlings from drying out before they can get established. This product is great for repairing lawns damaged by pets. Growing grass from seed is almost goof proof with a lawn repair kit like this. Just rake the lawn and put down your seed and fertilizer so it touches soil. Mist the lawn twice a day for 2 weeks. You don't want to flood the area with water and move the seed around. Misting the area twice a day is the key to help germinate the grass seed. If the seed or seedlings dry out, they will die. One the grass is 1 inch tall, water once a day till it is 2 inches tall. When it reaches 2 inches, you can start to mow and water once a week.
