BACKSTORY SUMMARY: A few members of the Church have left Earth, where they have been oppressed and shunned. After some preliminary unmanned setup, they set off to live on the red planet. Unfortunately, due to their lack of proper scientific knowledge, they crash upon landing. Everyone survives, but they no longer have a rocket to resupply with. They are stranded and on their own.
