Sweetwater, September 5 - Pensioners who recently received new RDP houses are complaining that they need to install their own electrical wiring. The Gauteng Housing Department says residents were informed, before they moved in, that there would be no electrical wiring. The houses were handed over a month ago by President Jacob Zuma, as part of the Kanana Housing Project, to residents living in Sweetwater, an informal settlement in the south of Johannesburg. The department says it will help pensioners by ensuring the first 100 units of electricity are free.
