This replica is for sale on eBay right now: look for "REPLICA 1970 BENEATH the Planet of the Apes REPLICA Gorilla Carbine cosplay prop" Here is the URL: https://www.ebay.com/itm/302717898465?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1558.l2649 This is a REPLICA of a screen-used 1970 BENEATH the PLANET of the APES Gorilla Carbine. This non-firing cosplay movie prop is a replica of the "hero" gorilla rifles used in the second classic POTA film. So many fans out there were replicating the BACKGROUND gorilla rifles, that it was driving us bananas! The screen-used background rifles were nothing more than a crudely shaped hunk of wood with a die-cast metal chunk loosely resembling a receiver nailed on top. The "hero" rifle props had a really nice, streamlined stock that housed the working M-1 carbines. The hero rifle stocks also had the retracting stiletto bayonets. The background rifles did not have those features. The fan-base activities had us scratching our heads and wondering, "If you are going to spend all that time and effort replicating an iconic movie prop, why not replicate the 'hero' prop instead of the crappy background prop?" It just didn't make sense to us that folks were doing that. So we ended up replicating the "HERO" rifles and pistols from the original classic POTA film series in our on-going efforts to recreate the screen icons accurately. This is an "economy" cosplay model (for cosplay and display), but there are also DELUXE versions for airsoft, M-1 carbines, and Ruger 10/22's, because some fans like to GO APE at the range!
