Storytelling in a 360 virtual world. We all know the classic - wide shot, tighter 2 shot, singles and reverse. Repeat a variation of this and you have a scene. Well those days are over. Where once you controlled what the viewer could see now it’s a viewers choice. 360 video is the new kid on the block and it’s going to stay longer than Meerkat or Vine. 360 works in a flat world as well as in a virtual world. While that is great the issue is in creating content and emotional response for the viewer. When you take away the classic shots and replace them with one camera angle, what happens to storytelling? The director is no longer in control. There are so many pieces to this new way of filming that everyday new theories, tools and techniques are being used to determine what works best. Our Panel discussion this year will be with people who are living and breathing this stuff everyday not to mention actually doing it for cash. Take a look at the bios and notes below to get a feel for who will be there as part of this panel taking place at Brick Simple in Doylestown, PA; one of the premier 360 virtual reality creators in the business. We will be talking about story and how the classic film conventions are making room for new technologies. Video recorded in 360 using dual Kodak SP360 4K cameras.
