National Action leader Christopher Lythgoe jailed for eight years

Labour MP Rosie Cooper was at the Old Bailey in London today to watch as two men were jailed for a total of 14 years for being members of banned far-right group National Action. Christopher Lythgoe, 32, was handed an eight-year sentence for leading the group while 'henchman' Matthew Hankinson, 24, was jailed for six years. Lythgoe was cleared over a plot to kill Ms Cooper in a machete attack which Jack Renshaw, 23, had previously admitted to. The court heard Lythgoe had sent an encrypted email to members after National Action was banned in December 2016 promising it would continue under a new name while he also rented out a gym so members could 'train for the race war'.
