This ringed teal in the Zoo's McNeil Avian Center does not mind my being just inches away from it.

It is so wonderful to be this close to wild birds without their being afraid of me or without having to be afraid of them.  And it is even more wonderful to know this particular bird, unlike some in the wild, will be safe and warm and well cared for and will survive what may be a long, harsh winter.
