Dr. Allan Seid and Mary Seid, devoted their lives to fighting for justice and equality for Asian
Americans and other minorities in the Santa Clara county of South Bay. A psychiatrist by training,
Dr. Seid emphasized the need of Asians for mental health services as well as physical medical
services. Mary Seid was particularly proud to start a domestic violence shelter for Asian women.
They co-founded the organizations Asian Americans for Community Involvement (AACI), along
with other concerned Asians Americans. In addition, they also fought for fair employment practices for
Asian Americans and the elimination of racist and sexist stereotypes in school textbooks and the media.
