Elise Crull explores Neil Postman’s idea of Technopoly — or the idea that cultural institutions traditionally  responsible for circulating information are being overwhelmed by an overflow of available information that degrades our ability to process what is true and trustworthy. Specifically, she applies this concept to modern society and discusses ways that individuals can reject the emergence of Technopoly. Elise Crull is an Assistant Professor of Philosophy at the City College of New York. Her research focuses on the philosophy (and history) of modern physics, as well as the intersection between science and metaphysics. In short, she spends a lot of time thinking about entanglement, quantum decoherence, gravity, and spacetime. She also enjoys teaching her students at CUNY to think critically - and creatively - about the complex, evolving relationship of science and technology with society.
