This is my first workout with power/clean/ground-to-overhead lifts that is not low reps, ever. Back injuries made it unsuitable until now. I choose a crossfit workout because I wanted to know when to gas out. And, no joke, this was my max speed before getting dizzy. I did 30 reps but recording stopped when out of memory. This workout is called Grace.

In fact I could have continued a while more but had decided to leg press also. And my speed after 6 reps was not up to standard anyway.

The difference from a bodybuilding inspired workout with set-rest, that I did 1987-1988, 1990-1992, 2005-2010, 2012-now... is significant. I have a problem with gassing out after 10 years of illness - late 2012 I was resting on the floor nauseous between squat sets and late 2014 even blacked out while clean & press (caught on video) - so I want to fix that.

Powerclean and overhead presses are two of the lifts that have taken the most workouts for me to learn. I started with powerclean in 2014 and quickly got 80 kilo but since haven't improved much. Overhead press was not too hard for me as long as standards weren't too high: 40 kg for one rep during the 80's (I did 5 at most) and 10*40 in 2006-2010 (I did 15 at most). But now that Crossfit has significantly increased expectations for overhead lifts, I've had to work hard to overcome teenage injuries to shoulders. Powerclean is unexpectedly hard considering I did clean the weight for military press already during the 80's, and I can't figure out why it's hard, but this is quite often how it's been going with my lifts, after trying now and then, it suddenly works. The most common is that it takes 3 years for me to learn a lift, but some worked on first try. Pushpress was entirely new to me in 2014.

In this video I use a type of push jerk that is probably new, with no rest after the clean-phase. It resembles more a thruster but without range of motion.

Ironically my first completed crossfit workout wasn't similar to anything I'm used to do. I did try (light!) DT before and failed before one complete round.
