Alex van der Zwaan, a lawyer who pleaded guilty in February to lying to special counsel prosecutors and the FBI, was sentenced to 30 days in prison and ordered to pay a $20,000 fine. This marks the first sentencing in special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 U.S. presidential election.
