President Trump leaned hard in 2018 into his ‘America First’ philosophy, starting with his State of the Union address and continuing with his trade war with China, his push for a southern border wall, and the launch of his family separation policy for migrants and asylum seekers entering the country. There were also unprecedented meetings with both Russian president Vladimir Putin and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un — going against just about every convention ever set by an American president. Jim Braude was joined by Jennifer Braceras, Senior Fellow with conservative nonprofit Independent Women's Forum; Michael Curry, former president of the Boston NAACP, now chair of the national NAACP Advocacy & Policy Committee; and Martha Coakley, former state Attorney General, now partner at Foley Hoag.
