The chunky shoe and boot is back in 2017 and yes, this is a fashion trend women over the age of 40 can wear.  Here is how to wear them.

The rise of women wanting to look stylish and be comfortable at the same time has brought a wave of comfortable shoes that allow us both.  The chunky shoe or boot, even if it isn’t a flatform is usually more comfortable than a stiletto.  Here is how to make this trend work for you.

I personally love the chunky look and since I am a small frame, it looks even chunkier on me.  But you have to find what works for you.  A chunky boot or shoe can either make a statement or it can offer you balance, depending on your frame.  

If you want to make a statement, go for something exaggerated compared to your frame like this flatform brogue.  This can be worn in spring/summer with dresses or just add tights or leggings for warmth during the fall/winter.  Better yet, you can wear them with pants or jeans and add a fishnet sock underneath for a super trendy look.

If the exaggerated look is too much for you, look out for something proportionate to your frame.  These boots are not as dramatic, but still fit into the trendy chunky trend.  Once again, these will work with dresses in spring/summer or with tights in fall/winter.
