David Shirk from Seattle, Wash., braved 26 degrees in Syracuse, N.Y., Nov. 15, 2018, to call for a turkey-free Thanksgiving. Shirk, dressed only in a thin pair of nude colored underwear and stockings on his feet, positioned himself in a trussed-up pose on a giant cutting board alongside two turkey carcasses. PETA campaigner Katerina Davidovich, from Los Angeles, Calif., said they're encouraging people to treat turkeys as individuals, not as holiday centerpieces. "Turkeys are just like cats and dogs. They feel pain and fear, and they even form friendships and families when given the chance," she said.
