In our series on famous European squares we're off to Venice and what must arguably be one of the world's greatest quadrangles, St. Mark's Square. It is the central landmark of the lagoon city and still looks almost the same as when it was painted by the great Italian artist Canaletto nearly 3 hundred years ago. 14 million tourists visit the square every year and many of them with a thirst might have come across our guide Roberto Ferronato who works as a waiter at what is said to be Europe's oldest cafe.
