Gods Will Be Watching, even when you take tough decisions in a pixelated point-and-click thriller. Game designer and CEO talks us through this different adventure's bullet points right before getting Best Debut award in Barcelona, and some days prior to its imminent launch for PC, Mac and Linux.

Gods Will Be Watching is the sci-fi point and click adventure that's focused on pushing players to the limits to see what they'd do to survive, and during Gamelab we caught up with game designer Jordi de Paco to talk the concept and what he's seeing as players get hands-on with the title.

While the current trailers have lingered on the graphic outcome that result during hostage situations and torture scenes, he emphasises that that its down to player choice, and isn't the only end to each scenario.

"The full game can be completed without killing anybody," he explained. "...if you're skilled at solving a puzzle, you don't need to make a hard decision."

Those 'hard decisions' however, cover instilling fear on hostages, surviving twenty days worth of torture and weighing up what, or who, to sacrifice for your next meal.

"You have to psychologically manage your torturer while you're tied to the chair, and you have to decide to take more damage or let your partner take damage, or even sacrifice him for your sake," he examples. "Or in a hostage situation, when you have to negotiate with the police while you partner breaks into a database, and you have to make the situation stable - so the hostages don't run away or they don't try and rebel against you. So you have to make a hard choice, like execute one of the prisoners so everyone calms down."

The game was playable at Gamelab, and Paco says he was surprised at some of the choices made, even if player decision offers a multitude of experiences. " One player thinks it's okay to kill a dog to feed their human partners, but we were surprised at some people preferred to kill an engineer before a dog. 'Don't kill the dog, he's so cute. Kill the engineer- he's so fat he'll provide more food."
