(29 May 1966) A big demonstration for the anniversary of the birth of Bouddha was forbidden in Saigon. The faithful ones lead by the Bonzes tried to parade in the city. After violent fighting with tear-gas, grenades and stones, the police created a barbed-wire barrage which was guarded by a bayonet troup with cannons. The demonstrators then took position of meditation and prayed for a couple of hours, Later in the afternoon, THICH TIEN MINH came to the barbed-wire barrage and managed to persuade his supporters to go back to the Buddhist Institute.
