Mahlangu, Hlongwa given the boot

Embattled former Gauteng Health MEC's Qedani Mahlangu and Brian Hlongwa have been given the boot from the province's top decision-making body. The ANC's National Working Committee has asked the two to step down with immediate effect. This despite a PEC plea not to remove them. Mahlangu was implicated in the deadly Esidimeni transfers while Hlongwa is embroiled in a corruption scandal. Both were elected to the party's top structure at July's Elective Conference.
