June/July 2017 Effective 1/2 July 2017 the 22691/2 Bengaluru Rajdhani Express became the only Rajdhani for Bengaluru, after 22693/4 was merged with this. At the same time, the fully electrified route now meant that the Krishnarajapuram EMDs would no longer be used. Instead, the train started getting Ghaziabad's WAP7s end-to-end. A sad change for fans of diesels who had been seeing this train with diesels for so many years (before KJM EMDs this Rajdhani used to get Kazipet WDM3As). Luckily my parents and I have managed to capture the last few runs of this train with diesel link, and also a one-off video with the WAP7. The charm of diesels is all but gone.
