Drivers beware -- if you take a shortcut through Lake Annette, you will pay a toll. The city said it will start charging a $1 toll fee along the annexed portion of Lake Annette road. The road runs from one end of Lake Annette to the other and is about one-fourth of a mile long. In a news release, City Clerk Vicki Hercules said some drivers use the road as a shortcut from Route C to Highway 2. Lake Annette residents won't be charged and will be asked to display a sticker on the windshield of their car. The toll will be used to pay for road repairs, city officials said.
