United Nations, 4 February 2009: Daily Briefing by the Office of the Spokesperson for the Secretary-General. The UN Secretary-General, Mr. Ban ki-moon, made a surprise visit to Afghanistan earlier today, to underscore the priority the UN is placing on its work in the country. He arrived a few hours later for his first state visit to Pakistan.
