We will be presenting our explorations into the new field of digital craft which poses particular challenges to academic curricula. This paper will discuss the values and questions connected the junction of traditional crafting practices and new, computational interfaces, representations, and means of construction. From the perspective of a research university's teaching environment, we highlight viable approaches and teaching practices based on our experience designing, constructing, and collaborating with technologists, theorists, and craftspersons. The paper concludes with a final discussion of the resulting prototypes from our classes in teaching digital craft.
