Minister of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs, Dennis Moses, says he was not trying to avoid customs at the Piarco International Airport in September when he was denied permission to an unauthorised exit, which resulted in the suspension of an Airports Authority Security Guard.

Speaking in response to an urgent question in Parliament on Friday, Minister Moses said he was following a procedure which he experienced at other international airports.

Minister Moses said on the 20th of September, he returned from Guyana on official business with a delegation. He said as is the normal custom, protocol officers guided the delegation through the airport and the customs area, and being guided to the gate was the normal practice.

Member of Parliament for Caroni Central Dr. Bhoe Tewarie also asked Minister Moses whether he was trying to avoid customs.
