Prince Charles arrives at Cardiff station on the royal steam train

As locals hurried to work on Friday morning, Charles began his tour of the Welsh capital by arriving at Cardiff Central Station in the royal train which was pulled by Clan Line, a steam locomotive (inset). The heir to the throne climbed into the cab of the coal-powered locomotive (right), which was built the same year he was born - 1948. During his day in Cardiff, the prince will visit the City Hospice to meet patients and families as well as staff and volunteers.
