The Republican Party nominee for U.S. president, Senator John McCain, Thursday pledged he would vanquish partisan rhetoric in Washington. The former prisoner of war in Vietnam vowed to bring change to Washington politics. He accepted his party's nomination one week after Democrat Barack Obama launched his party's quest for the White House.
