Technology has the potential to help and hurt our confidence. How can we use it for good? In this talk Dr. Emily Harburg, PhD in Technology & Social Behavior, shares research findings that suggest how technology can be designed to help build our confidence. She explores technology’s current shortcomings in building constructive communities, how to leverage existing tools to build up self-confidence, and the potential power of adapting these learnings for future interface design. Dr. Emily Kathryn Harburg is a co-founder of Brave Initiatives, a nonprofit dedicated to helping girls build confidence in coding for a better world. She has worked as a behavioral researcher at Facebook and Walt Disney Imagineering. She received her PhD in Technology and Social Behavior from Northwestern, and her BA in Social Anthropology and Psychology from Harvard.
