This is one of my own songs. It began life one day when I was walking after recovering from a quadruple heart bypass operation. The first line entered my head from I know not where and persistently kept repeating itself, so when I got home I thought I would write it down so as not to forget it and perhaps work at extending it later. However, as soon as I began writing, more words came and a couple of hours later I found that I had written quite a long poem. Later still, I decided to put it to music, so here is the finished piece. Hope you like it! By the way, in the last verse, I got the ending wrong when I sang it, the words in the annotations are the correct version.

They were entered in order, so the first chapter is at the end of the blog, later chapters appearing nearer the beginning of the blog.
