"Taqwa is the foundation of everything in Islam."

"We aren't saying don't make use of this world. But do so in a way where you are the master, and the world is your slave. Not the other way around."

"Ali says be organized in what we do. Look at our attitude, many centers would announce a program at 7, and if you show up then, you'll be sitting there waiting. It's not as if they behave like this in all aspects of life. They're always at the office on time in the morning. But for religious issues, Masha'Allah."

"An A'lim once said 'I used to hear that if you want to see Islam go to the West, and if you want to see Muslims go to the East.' Many things which Islam expects from Muslims is done by non-Muslims in the Western world. Whereas Muslims have all these teachings but they are the most unorganized. Success is not only dependent on faith, but also how it is implemented."

"An amazing statement I haven't seen anywhere. Ali reminds us of the Qur'an, 'live by it, maintain it. It shouldn't be that others implement the Qur'an before you.' This means it isn't our monopoly, a secret book for ourselves. Others who don't believe in it, will study and use it, while we sit there with the book, values remaining inside the book. The sawab of reciting is there, but not understanding, studying, reflecting, and living by it, defeats the purpose."

"Ali emphasizes the concept of Jihad, an important part of our teachings. These days politically it has become a negative word, but we shouldn't shy away from talking about & understanding it in its right context. He says there are 3 types. By your wealth, to further the cause & help others. By the willingness to sacrifice your life. And by the tongue, whether spoken or written word. All for the sake of God. Not for the sake of Bin Laden or Baghdadi or others; that's where the problems lie."

"Ali is the prime example of justice & fairness."
