Ed was quick to master the sailor life as a deck seaman, and quickly found himself taking on bigger and bigger duties along with promotions. The truth is he could have had his pick at pretty much any different rate (job) in the Navy, but this man was pure Salt. Ed wanted to live amongst the hard working grunts of sailor, where he eventually became a huge mentor to many on the USS Mount Hood. This is a great story, tune in.
