Setting a Passcode Lock on your device can help protect your personal information. Using a four digit passcode is great, but what if you're looking for something more secure? There's actually an option that will allow you to setup an alphanumeric passcode that may be a little trickier to guess.

To setup a secure passcode for your device, watch the video or follow the steps below:

Step 1: Go into the Settings app on your device and tap on General.

Step 2: Next, scroll down to Passcode Lock and tap on it.

Step 3: Halfway down on the screen, turn off "Simple Passcode."

Note: If you already have a passcode set, you'll be prompted to enter it. Then you'll be able to set a new secure passcode.

Step 4: Tap on "Turn Passcode On," then create an alphanumeric passcode. When you're happy with what you've entered, press "Next" in the top right corner. After you've re-entered your passcode, finish the setup by tapping "Done."

Next time your device is unlocked, you'll be given a full keyboard to enter the new secure passcode you've created.

Now that you've learned how to create an alphanumeric passcode on your device, if there's something else you'd like to see on iOS Advice, please let us know.
