The world-famous London shopping area of Oxford Street 
glimmers for its 58th annual Christmas lights.
With 1,778 decorations & 750,000 LED light bulbs. There were no light displays in 1976 or 1977 due to the economic recession.
It is Europe's busiest shopping street, with around half a million daily visitors.
Several British retail chains regard their Oxford Street branch as the flagship store. Debenhams originally opened as Marshall & Snelgrove in 1870.
Selfridges, 2nd largest department store in the UK, has been in Oxford Street since 1909.
House of Fraser began as D H Evans in 1879. Later, it became the first department store in the UK with escalators serving every floor.
Two hundred years ago, this area was not considered worth a visit by middle and upper classes due to its sleazy image. 
Now, a visit to the Oxford Street is a must for these classes due to its prestigious image. 
Who says Santa doesn't exist!
