Pakistan: UN agencies pushing for access to displaced people

United Nations, New York, 25 June 2009 - Noon briefing by the spokesperson for the Secretary-General. UN agencies in Pakistan are pushing to get access to all the displaced people in the northwest who need assistance.

According to the agency's Humanitarian Coordinator, Martin Mogwanja, "Humanitarian agencies are working hard to assist all of those who are in need, but we have a long way to go."

Mr Mogwanja has also warned that the most vulnerable - including women, children, the disabled an elderly - are often the hardest to reach.
