My wife Amy sings the lead in this arrangement. The following description is in her words: "I heard about the controversy surrounding this song by composer Bruce Broughton before I heard the song itself. A song from a little known movie sung by a quadriplegic woman made it into the Oscar nominations list. As this roused my curiosity, I immediately went to look up the song. As soon as I heard it, I KNEW I had to cover it on YouTube! It's a beautiful song with a wonderful, uplifting message sung by a real life hero of mine, Joni Eareckson Tada. I rushed to my husband, Brandon Toy, aka songstaforlife, and asked him if he could do an a cappella arrangement. To my delight, he agreed, and we came up with this cover! No instruments are used, just our voices. We hope you enjoy it. :) I don't want to remark too much on the Academy's decision to rescind the Oscar nomination. It's truly not my place to say whether or not this song should be a contender. All I CAN say is that I do not think it's any coincidence that this song was first nominated, then just as the buzz of controversy on its nomination was dying down, its nomination was then rescinded, which caused even MORE people to hear about it and listen to its wonderful message. God does indeed work in great and mysterious ways.
