(Full Title): Beyond video-centric lectures: Engaging Collaborative Learning through web conferencing tools Date: Thursday, May 6th, 2010 Location: Thwing Center 1914 Lounge at Case Western Reserve Unviersity Panelists: Megan Linos, Carol Kelley, Margaret Wheatley Nowadays, web conferencing tools, such as Adobe Connect and Skype, are widely used in distance learning classrooms. These tools have remedied the constraints of virtual classroom interactions as well as collaboration. In this presentation, two innovative teaching ideas will be demonstrated: 1) encouraging virtual group collaboration for small group case study presentations (2) presenting pre-recorded lectures using Adobe Connect? In addition, three virtual conferencing tools will be introduced (Big blue button, Vidyo and Adobe Connect) in this session. The faculty presenters will also share their personal experience of successfully adopting Adobe Connect system in their classrooms without prior web conferencing experience or technical background.
