Hey guys, so in yesterdays video about dropshipping I made a comment about Alex Tew and his MillionDollarHomepage where he created a website with a million pixels and sold ad space for $1 per pixel. This was back in 2005 he did this so even before the days of Youtube and all the social media we had today. In just 5 months he managed to make a million Dollars.

He began by selling spots to friends and family, then slowly businesses got on board. Then the media started picking up the story so it began to go viral, and he wound up selling his last 1000 pixels on eBay for $38,000. He managed to make over a Million Dollars in just 5 months.

This is an incredible story. It shows how quirky and creative ideas can somehow take off. It shows the power of the internet, and keep in mind this is back in 2005 back when the internet wasn't as powerful or anything near what it is today and he still managed to do this.

He's since launched some other quirky projects like his do nothing for two minutes site where you just look at a scene of the ocean and listen to waves and do nothing for two minutes, if you touch your keyboard or mouse it starts over. I'm not sure how he monetized it but he has a knack for finding quirky and creative simple ideas that tend to take off.

I just thought this was an amazing story as well as an inspirational one. If you guys find this interesting let me know and I'll do a follow up video talking about some more of his projects.

One other tie in I wanted to mention is that doing something unique or outside the box oftentimes gives you a better chance of succeeding than following the same boring path of what everyone else is doing.

Back in 2005 when Alex was doing this, it was the very end of the Made For Adsense days where people were throwing up one page niche sites, tricking Google into ranking them and making hundreds of thousands per month in Adsense commissions. While that was during the last days of this, MFA was also at it's most hype. Now instead of doing the same thing as everyone else, Alex sat down to brainstorm and came up with this clever idea and wound up making a million.

I guess my point is I view today with Ali Express and Shopify dropshipping the same way. The gurus are all talking about how they make millions, the whole thing is played out, yet more people than ever are rushing into when in my opinion people should be doing quirky wierd things and trying things other people aren't doing.

I hope this video provides maybe some inspiration and ideas for you guys and hope it gets you thinking outside the box. If you have a quirky or goofy idea, no matter how unlikely it seems to succeed, if it's something that can be rolled out in a matter of hours either free or for under $50 or $100 give it a try. You never know what could happen. There's a ton of upside and almost no downside. I'm sure Alex while optimistic never in a million years thought he would make a million bucks off this sorta goofy but clever idea.
