Your odds of being struck by lightning in your lifetime is 1 in 3,000. Your odds of dying from a lightning strike in your lifetime, however, are only 1 in 161,856. And if you do get struck, a single bolt of lightning is around 50,000 degrees Fahrenheit or 5 times hotter than the surface of the sun. Each bolt averages 2-3 miles long and can carry a current of 10,000 amps at 100 million volts.
