White House Optimistic About Kavanaugh Vote

(5 Oct 2018) White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders expressed confidence Friday that the Senate will vote to confirm Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh over the weekend, insisting he has "done more than any nominee in history" in terms of the number of documents he has turned over as well as hours of testimony and interviews. She said she hopes that some Democrats will "change their minds and do the right thing," in the final vote and added that she is also hopeful that once the vote is over, the nation can move forward and come together as a country. The Senate on Friday voted to advance Kavanaugh's nomination. A final vote is expected on Saturday afternoon. Sanders said President Donald Trump is staying in "regular contact with a number of senators" and looks "forward to the final vote happening this weekend."
