V. Golitsyn with the proposal to establish a stock exchange in Moscow . The exchange was opened eleven years later, on November 8, 1839 . For the construction, the Moscow merchants bought a plot on the corner of Ilinka and Rybny lane , on which Dmitry Solunsky’s church once stood, which was abolished in the 18th century. The Exchange was designed by the architect Mikhail Bykovsky in the style of early " Renaissance " eclecticism . The reconstruction of the stock exchange took place in 1866. An adjacent site on Rybnoy Lane was purchased. The new building was designed in 1873 - 1875 by the architect A. S. Kaminsky . The new building acquired a classic portico from the side of Ilinka and a two-story neo-renaissance side facade along Rybnoy Lane. In 1925, another floor was built on the design of the architect Ivan Kuznetsov . After the October Revolution, the stock exchange was closed and existed in Soviet Russia only during the NEP period from 1922 to 1930.
