Stokowski made the first American recording of Reinhold Gliere's mammoth 3rd Symphony "Ilya Murometz" with the Philadelphia Orchestra in 1940. He edited the work down to manageable concert length and occasionally featured it in his concerts. This is the 3rd movement, entitled 'Ilya Murometz and Prince Vladimir,' and it comes from a performance that Stokowski gave with the Cleveland Orchestra in 1971.
