In Budget 2018, the government may tweak income tax slabs and rates to bring down the burden on individuals, according to a survey by tax and advisory firm EY. A wide majority of 69 per cent of the respondents felt that the threshold limits for taxation could increase to boost disposable income in the hands of the people. In the last Budget, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley left the slabs unchanged but gave a marginal relief to the small taxpayer, in the form of reduction in the rate from 10 per cent to 5 per cent for individuals having annual income between Rs 2.5 lakh-Rs 5 lakh. The finance minister will present the Budget for financial year 2018-19 on February 1
