“The media is upholding a simplified view of generation Y. This view is a stereotype that cannot be held against an entire generation. These misconceptions need to be corrected,” says Simo Koivisto-Rajala.

Simo is quite the millennial: working in an international setting, looking to express and improve himself through work, dreaming of giving TED Talks and knowing more internet memes than the names of plants that grow in the nearest forest. Yet, when looking at his agemates, he didn’t see a ‘Generation Y’ – and ended up writing his Master’s thesis, as well as crafting his talk, about why you shouldn’t either. Simo is an academic-minded alumni of Turku School Economics, currently working as rewards expert in Nordea.
