Music speaks when words fail us. This singer, songwriter and mental health advocate performs original songs and discusses using music as a tool to cope with mental illness and to educate the world, in hopes of encouraging our empathy towards others. Sarah Boulton is a singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist from
Niagara. She was booked for her first gig at the age of 13 and, over the last decade, she has built a full-time career as a performing artist. Although Southern Ontario has been seeing the most of her so far, she has also performed in Barbados at Holder’s Season Festival 2015.
Since 2015 she has been writing and recording material for her first studio album with award-winning producer, Tim Abraham, at downtown Toronto’s Soleil Sound and The Hive. She has also worked with several other incredible writers and producers in Toronto and LA.
As an artist, who has struggled with anxiety for the majority of her life, she has become driven to become an advocate for mental health, and through her music career, hopes to help end the stigma attached to mental illness. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
