The University of Waterloo Centre for Education in Mathematics and Computing (CEMC) has been offering a fully online and asynchronous Master of Mathematics in Teaching (MMT) program since 2010. Unlike many master’s programs that focus on the pedagogy, the MMT’s focus is strengthening teachers’ mathematical abilities and enriching their appreciation of the breadth and utility of the discipline. MMT students are also challenged to continually look for innovative ways to bring their newfound knowledge into the classroom.
